The new replacement building for Bielefeld University houses the canteen, library and lecture halls as well as several faculties. Special features are the two-storey base and four multi-storey rings in which the faculties are located. The modern strip windows on each floor flood the entire building with daylight. The cafeteria offers space for 1,900 seats, so the new cafeteria bundles the catering services of Bielefeld University and Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences. The new building also acts as a link between the main university building and the North Campus with the new building for Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and the "Interactive Intelligent Systems" research building.
